Our Follower City Miskolc is taking visible steps to modernise urban mobility and engage citizens in shaping the city’s transport future. Two recent events organised by MVK Zrt. showcased this commitment.
In a playful experiment Miskolc tested which transport mode is the fastest from Felső-Majláth to City Hall Square. The electric scooter came first with 14 minutes, followed by the bicycle (17 minutes) and the car (20 minutes). Tram and bus tied at 22 minutes, while running took 40 minutes.
Beyond the fun, the race sent a clear message: sustainable transport can be efficient, practical, and part of everyday life in the city. With initiatives like this, Miskolc and MVK Zrt. encourage citizens to think openly about greener mobility choices. Feedback highlighted the need for clearer rules, designated parking and riding zones, and better night-time safety. A working group will now continue the dialogue and prepare concrete proposals for the city.
During the city’s Week of Safety, MVK Zrt. took part in the SAFE Party in Népkert, using playful activities to teach children and young people about safe travel. Primary school students tested their knowledge through games on bus and tram use, while also learning about the goals of the metaCCAZE.
With strong enthusiasm from participants, the event showed how safety education can be engaging and fun. MVK Zrt. stressed that safe, sustainable public transport remains a top priority.
