Our Trailblazer City Limassol is taking the next step towards smarter and more sustainable urban mobility by expanding its WeeDrive service with the introduction of scheduled School Rides for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Developed within metaCCAZE, WeeDrive was launched in October 2025 as an innovative, app-based transport service designed specifically for secondary school students and their after school appointments. Building on its successful first year of operation, the service will now offer scheduled journeys to and from school, providing families with a safe, reliable and flexible transport solution.
Supporting Families with Everyday Mobility
From September 2026, WeeDrive School Rides will provide teenagers in Limassol with convenient door-to-door transport between home and school. The new service is designed to make daily school travel easier while encouraging young people to become more confident and independent travellers.
Parents can choose from flexible transport options, including morning journeys, afternoon return trips or a combination of both. All rides can be booked and managed through the WeeDrive mobile application, which also provides real-time journey updates and notifications, giving parents complete visibility throughout each trip.
To ensure efficient travel, the service operates with smaller passenger groups, enabling more direct routes and shorter journey times.
Building on a Successful Pilot
Since its launch in October 2025, WeeDrive has demonstrated strong demand among families in Limassol. By 20 June 2026, the service had completed more than 5,249 rides and supported over 430 families.
These journeys have collectively saved families more than 200 days of travel time, reducing the need for parents to drive through daily traffic while contributing to smoother and more efficient urban mobility.
The positive experience gained during the first months of operation has provided a strong foundation for expanding the service to include scheduled school transport.
A Step Towards Smarter and Cleaner Mobility
The expansion of WeeDrive reflects Limassol’s commitment to testing innovative mobility solutions that improve quality of life while supporting more sustainable transport systems.
As one of the Trailblazer Cities in metaCCAZE, Limassol continues to demonstrate how digital mobility services can reduce traffic congestion, improve accessibility and encourage cleaner modes of urban transport. WeeDrive contributes directly to these ambitions by offering families a practical alternative to individual car journeys, helping reduce both congestion and environmental impacts across the city.
Registration Now Open
Places for the new School Rides service are limited and will be allocated following the final route planning process. Parents wishing to secure a place for their teenager are invited to submit an expression of interest before 31 July 2026 through the WeeDrive website.
The launch of School Rides marks another important milestone for WeeDrive and demonstrates how solutions developed within metaCCAZE can evolve from successful pilot services into long-term mobility options that deliver real benefits for cities and their citizens.
