In a new episode of the Townmaking podcast, a metaCCAZE consortium member, the topic of “Non-Intrusive Speed Governance” takes center stage.
The discussion delves into innovative methods for regulating vehicle speeds in urban environments without the need for invasive surveillance technologies or scaling enforcement efforts. The episode covers how knowledge-driven urban management systems can balance safety through self-organizing systems.
In the metaCCAZE project, Townmaking leads the Adaptive Speed Governance (ASG) initiative in the Living Lab Amsterdam. ASG aims to enhance road safety and reduce emissions by dynamically adjusting vehicle speeds based on real-time conditions and generating rich environment contexts shared between urban environments like school zones, business districts, or parks with the vehicles. By building new connectivity capabilities and real-time processing on connected vehicles, ASG ensures speeds remain in balance with everyone’s needs without introducing unnecessary technology overheads.
